Samsung Electronics has expanded internal testing of its Android 17-based One UI 9 software to additional Galaxy smartphones and tablets, as the company moves closer to the operating system’s official release.
The latest development follows Samsung’s rollout of the Android 16-based One UI 8.5 stable update for the Galaxy A26 in May.
New firmware spotted on Samsung’s servers indicates that One UI 9 testing has now begun for the Galaxy A26, alongside a growing list of Galaxy devices across multiple product categories.
Among the latest smartphones entering the testing phase are the Galaxy A36, Galaxy A37, Galaxy A15 4G, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy M15, Galaxy M34, Galaxy M35, Galaxy M56 and Galaxy F34. Samsung is also testing the software on its Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro tablet.
The company has further expanded One UI 9 development to several foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. Testing has also begun for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, although firmware details for those devices have yet to surface.
Samsung has so far limited the public One UI 9 beta programme to the Galaxy S26 series, which has already received three beta updates.
The South Korean technology giant has not announced when the beta programme will expand to other eligible Galaxy devices or when the stable version of One UI 9 will begin rolling out.
According to recent reports, Samsung’s next-generation foldable smartphones will be the first devices to ship with One UI 9 pre-installed. The new foldables are widely expected to be unveiled on July 22 during a Galaxy Unpacked event in London.
One UI 9 is based on Android 17 and is expected to introduce further improvements to performance, artificial intelligence features, security and user interface enhancements, although Samsung has yet to reveal the software’s complete feature set.
