Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Keeps 12MP Selfie Camera Again

Samsung fans eagerly awaiting major camera upgrades in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series might be disappointed, as fresh leaks suggest minimal changes are on the horizon — especially in areas that matter most.

According to reports, Samsung’s 2025 flagship lineup will see very few camera improvements, with some long-requested updates still missing.

One major complaint revolves around the telephoto setup. Many expected Samsung to finally replace the aging 10MP 3x telephoto lens, but the company seems to be holding off yet again. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera — which many consider already sufficient — remains unchanged.

Renowned tipster Roland Quandt has revealed that all models in the Galaxy S26 lineup — including the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra — will continue to feature a 12MP selfie camera with autofocus. This is the same sensor Samsung has used since the Galaxy S23, continuing through the S24 and S25 series.

The decision to stick with the same selfie camera for the fourth consecutive generation is raising eyebrows among tech enthusiasts. Not long ago, the Galaxy S22 Ultra offered a more powerful 40MP front camera, but Samsung has since opted for consistency over raw megapixels.

While the current 12MP sensor still delivers detailed selfies with excellent skin tones and strong dynamic range, the lack of innovation could make the Galaxy S26 lineup appear stagnant in a highly competitive flagship market.

Pricing details for the Galaxy S25 Ultra — which may hint at what to expect for the S26 — currently stand at:

256GB + 12GB RAM: $749 / €890

512GB + 12GB RAM: $909.95 / €989.99

With the launch expected in early 2025, Samsung will need more than just incremental changes to excite fans. For now, it seems the selfie camera experience will remain unchanged, leaving enthusiasts hoping for significant rear camera improvements in future Galaxy S models.
