Renowned Samsung tipster Ice Universe has revealed new details about the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra’s RAM specifications, sparking mixed reactions among smartphone enthusiasts.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the insider claimed that the flagship will feature 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, the same memory type found in the current Galaxy S25 Ultra.
While the speed remains impressive, Ice Universe did not confirm whether the RAM capacity will change. This omission is noteworthy, as the Galaxy Ultra series has stuck to 12GB of RAM since the launch of the Galaxy S20 Ultra back in 2020, with no significant bump in capacity over the past five years.
If the Galaxy S26 Ultra does ship with 12GB RAM, it will still offer more than enough memory for everyday use, multitasking, and demanding apps. For most users, running out of RAM would be virtually impossible under normal circumstances. However, in the competitive Android flagship market, RAM capacity has become a key spec for bragging rights.
Many of Samsung’s rivals, including Xiaomi Ultra, OnePlus 15, and Google Pixel 10 series, now ship with 16GB RAM as standard, with some even offering configurations up to 24GB. In comparison, a 12GB setup could make the S26 Ultra appear underpowered on paper, even if real-world performance remains strong.
Interestingly, Samsung is not alone in holding back on RAM size—Apple’s latest iPhones still use 8GB RAM, focusing instead on software optimization to deliver smooth performance. However, Android devices have historically relied more on higher RAM capacities to handle resource-intensive apps and background processes efficiently.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to debut in early 2026 with Samsung’s latest hardware upgrades, including the next-generation Exynos or Snapdragon processor, improved camera systems, and enhanced AI features. Whether Samsung will surprise fans with a RAM capacity boost remains to be seen, but for now, leaks suggest speed over size remains the company’s priority.
With competitors pushing the envelope in memory specs, the final RAM decision for the S26 Ultra could influence how it is perceived in the flagship race.
