Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, continues to make headlines as new details emerge about its charging capabilities and battery specifications.
Set to debut in 2026, the premium device is expected to deliver faster charging speeds than its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it will still lag behind some of its Chinese competitors.
Faster Charging Than Galaxy S25 Ultra
According to reliable tipster UniverseIce, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 60W wired fast charging, an upgrade from the 45W charging offered by the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The tipster confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the specifications are final, stating, “The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s charging speed is 60W, not 45W.”
While this is a welcome improvement for Samsung fans, the 60W charging speed still falls short compared to Chinese flagship smartphones, many of which now offer 100W or even 120W wired charging solutions.
Battery Capacity Details
In terms of battery performance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra was recently certified in China with a rated battery capacity of 4,855 mAh. This means its typical capacity will be around 5,000 mAh, similar to previous Galaxy Ultra models. However, Samsung is sticking to its traditional lithium-ion technology rather than adopting the high-capacity silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries seen in some Chinese devices, which often exceed 6,000 mAh.
Mixed Signals from Certifications
Interestingly, the new information contradicts a recent 3C certification listing, which suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would retain 45W charging support. This discrepancy has fueled speculation that Samsung might release different charging variants for different regions — or that the certification was based on an early prototype.
What to Expect
Despite not matching the ultra-fast charging speeds of competitors, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s combination of 60W fast charging and a 5,000mAh battery still represents a notable improvement over its predecessor. As Samsung’s most powerful flagship for 2026, it is expected to deliver enhanced performance, battery efficiency, and premium features — with more details likely to surface ahead of its official launch.
