Samsung has expanded its One UI 8.5 beta program to more Galaxy devices while introducing a major upgrade to its file-sharing ecosystem. The latest update brings support for Apple’s AirDrop through Samsung’s Quick Share feature, allowing smoother cross-platform file sharing between compatible devices.
Initially introduced in March 2026, the One UI 8.5 beta rollout is now reaching additional Galaxy smartphones. Newly supported devices include the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE, and for the first time in the beta program, an A-series device — the Galaxy A36 5G.
The beta update is currently being released in select markets including India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Samsung noted that the rollout is being conducted in phases, meaning availability may vary depending on the region and device model.
One of the most notable features of the One UI 8.5 beta is the integration of AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share. This development builds on Samsung’s ongoing collaboration with the Android ecosystem and aims to improve cross-platform connectivity. With this feature, Galaxy users will be able to share files more easily with devices that support AirDrop, eliminating some of the limitations that previously existed between different operating systems.
However, the AirDrop support through Quick Share is currently limited to select Galaxy models. At the moment, the feature is available on the Galaxy S26 series, with Samsung expected to expand support to more devices in the future.
The One UI 8.5 beta program continues to grow as Samsung tests new software features ahead of a wider public release. Earlier in March 2026, the beta update was rolled out to several other flagship devices including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, and the Galaxy Tab S11 series.
Samsung has also confirmed that support for additional Galaxy devices will be added later this month as the beta program expands further.
Users who want to test the new software can register for the One UI 8.5 beta through the Samsung Members app. Once enrolled, participants will receive beta updates directly on their eligible devices.
