Samsung Reportedly Cancels S26 Edge After Weak S25 Sales

Samsung appears to have pulled the plug on its Galaxy S26 Edge, marking the end of the company’s experiment with slim and lightweight flagship phones.

According to a new report from South Korea’s NewsPim, Samsung has decided to discontinue the Edge series entirely after the Galaxy S25 Edge failed to attract strong consumer interest.

The report cites a Samsung official, who hinted that the company currently has no plans to revive the Edge lineup. “I’m not sure if the slim line (i.e., Edge line) will ever return, but as of now, it seems unlikely. It’s practically gone,” the source revealed.

Despite this, Samsung reportedly completed development for the Galaxy S26 Edge, suggesting that some of its design and features could be reused in future Galaxy devices under a different name.

The decision follows disappointing sales figures for the Galaxy S25 Edge, which struggled to gain traction in key markets. According to Hana Investment & Securities, the model recorded just 1.31 million units shipped as of August 2025. In comparison, Samsung shipped 8.28 million Galaxy S25, 5.05 million S25+, and 12.18 million S25 Ultra units during the same period — highlighting the Edge model’s limited appeal.

Industry analysts suggest that while the Edge concept — emphasizing ultra-slim design and portability — initially generated buzz, it failed to offer compelling advantages over Samsung’s main flagship lineup. Consumers instead favored devices with larger batteries, better cameras, and more advanced features, making the Edge series less attractive despite its sleek form factor.

Samsung is now reportedly focusing on its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, which will include the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra, expected to debut in January 2026.

With the Edge series officially discontinued, Samsung’s strategy appears to be centered around refining its premium models rather than pursuing experimental sub-lines. While the Galaxy S26 Edge may never see the light of day, its design innovations could still influence Samsung’s future flagship smartphones.
