Samsung Reveals The Wall for Virtual Production

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its latest digital signage lineup at InfoComm 2023, the largest audiovisual trade show in North America held in Orlando, Florida from June 14 to 16.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the significance of technology for businesses across various industries, stating that the innovative signage lineup showcased at InfoComm empowers business growth. He also expressed excitement about the newest addition to The Wall lineup, which will enhance production in TV, film, and creative industries.

Introducing The Wall for Virtual Production

Samsung presented its new dedicated display, The Wall for Virtual Production (IVC Model), at InfoComm. This display will be available worldwide starting today.

The Wall for Virtual Production allows virtual production studios to leverage ultra-large LED walls and integrate them with real-time visual effects technology. This integration reduces the time and cost associated with content production. The Wall for Virtual Production is at the forefront of applying this technology in the market.

Featuring pixel pitch options of P1.68 and P2.1, dedicated studio frame rates, genlocking, a refresh rate of up to 12,288Hz, and impressive brightness and viewing angles, The Wall for Virtual Production ensures unparalleled picture quality for virtual content. The modular technology enables flexible installation options, including flat screens and curved screens up to 6,000R. The display is designed to withstand the challenges of production environments, such as dust and particles.

To manage the screen effectively and maintain superior picture quality, Samsung offers the integrated Virtual Production Management (VPM) solution. The VPM provides an intuitive interface and features like 3D lookup tables (LUTs) for color correction, wide-gamut HDR color processing, and color adjustment between individual cabinets or modules. Additionally, the VPM can detect and resolve any potential LED-related issues.

At InfoComm, Samsung collaborates with Lux Machina, known for their expertise in virtual production and modern ICVFX (In-Camera Visual Effects). Together, they showcase The Wall for Virtual Production in real-world scenarios. Lux Machina has implemented similar technology in popular television series and broadcast events, and they believe that display technologies like The Wall can revolutionize visual effects and simplify high-quality virtual production projects.

Samsung’s technical partner for The Wall for Virtual Production is Wētā FX, a renowned digital visual effects company based in New Zealand. With their experience in producing visual effects for blockbuster films, Wētā FX commends the excellent color rendition and picture quality of Samsung’s display.

The All-New Samsung QxC Series Crystal UHD Signage

In addition to The Wall, Samsung introduces the QxC Series Crystal UHD Signage, consisting of 20 new models available globally. These displays offer enhanced design and performance for exceptional features and picture quality in commercial environments.

The QxC lineup includes displays with varying brightness levels and sizes, catering to different needs. The symmetrical design with consistent bezel thickness on all four sides and center-mounted VESA holes ensures secure and seamless mounting. The QxC series is 40% slimmer than the previous model, measuring only 28.5mm thick. These displays boast an easy-to-use interface, 4K UHD resolution, Tizen 7.0 for optimized web services performance, industry-leading durability, SmartView+ wireless connectivity for up to six devices, anti-glare panels, and an Eco Sensor that adjusts brightness according to the surrounding environment.

Samsung Ushers in the Era of All-in-One LED Displays

Samsung also presents the LED All-in-One (IAC Model), a 130-inch full HD LED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This display features a slim design and pre-assembled frame kit for easy installation on walls. With impressive peak brightness, high refresh rate, and integrated media play and Microsoft 365 support, the LED All-in-One is ideal for business environments.

Industry-First Carbon Footprint Certification From TÜV Rheinland

Samsung’s 2023 Smart Signage lineup has obtained certifications for environmentally preferable products from well-recognized institutes in Germany and the U.S. The 2023 Smart Signage (QMC Model) and The Wall All-in-One (IAB Model) are the first signage models to receive a product carbon footprint certification from TÜV Rheinland. This certification evaluates the greenhouse gases generated throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring adherence to international standards. The 2023 Smart Signage (QMC Model) has also achieved ENERGY STAR 8.0 certification for energy efficiency and an Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) certification for eco-conscious efforts such as using recycled plastic.
