Samsung is gearing up to make a splash in the smartphone market with the official announcement of four Galaxy S25 models on January 22.
Alongside the standard Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, the company is introducing the Galaxy S25 Slim, a device whose defining feature is its ultra-slim design.
Galaxy S25 Slim Spotted on Geekbench
Ahead of its official debut, the Galaxy S25 Slim prototype has appeared in the Geekbench online results database. The North American version, model number SM-S937U, revealed some interesting details about the device’s performance and specifications.
The S25 Slim is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM. It runs on Android 15, enhanced by Samsung’s One UI 7 interface. The benchmark results, however, raise some concerns. The device scored 3,005 in single-core performance and 6,945 in multi-core tests. While the single-core performance is in line with expectations, the multi-core score is noticeably lower than the chipset’s typical range, which often exceeds 9,000.
Thinness at a Cost?
These results have sparked speculation about whether the S25 Slim’s thin design might be compromising its performance. At under 7mm thick, the device’s sleek profile is undoubtedly a visual standout, but such thinness could potentially hinder its ability to dissipate heat effectively, impacting the overall performance of its high-powered chipset.
While benchmark scores for prototype devices are not always indicative of the final product, the results have raised questions about the trade-offs Samsung may have made to achieve such a slim design.
Despite these concerns, the Galaxy S25 Slim’s design is expected to attract considerable attention. Its ultra-thin build promises a premium look and feel, although users who typically encase their smartphones in protective cases may find the design less impactful in everyday use.
As the January 22 launch approaches, more details are expected to surface. Whether the Galaxy S25 Slim’s design and performance can strike the right balance remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Samsung is not afraid to push boundaries with its latest offerings.
