Sara Foster recently addressed her connection with stepsister Gigi Hadid and former stepmother Yolanda Hadid, offering insight into the current dynamics with her extended family.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Tuesday, October 29, the 43-year-old actress shared that while she maintains a cordial relationship with Gigi, her interactions with Yolanda have become rare.
“Gigi and I stay in touch,” Foster affirmed, explaining that they occasionally exchange messages, though their last conversation was “maybe a month ago.” The two appear to have retained a bond despite the 2016 split between Sara’s father, David Foster, and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. However, Sara admitted it had “been a minute” since she last spoke to Yolanda, adding, “I’d be happy to run into her—absolutely.”
David Foster, 74, has had a complex family dynamic over the years, sharing three daughters, Sara, Erin, and Jordan, with ex-wife Rebecca Dyer, along with daughter Amy from his marriage to B.J. Cook, and Allison from an earlier relationship. Currently, he shares a 3-year-old son, Rennie, with his fifth wife, Katharine McPhee, whom he married in 2019. Yolanda Hadid, for her part, has three children—Gigi, Bella, and Anwar—with ex-husband Mohamed Hadid.
Last month, Sara’s sister Erin also shared her own connection with Gigi, mentioning that despite their parents’ split, she and Gigi have stayed in touch. “Gigi actually just DMed me last night saying she was starting to watch Nobody Wants This,” Erin said on Watch What Happens Live in September, joking, “The kids don’t get divorced—just the parents do.”
Reflecting on the past, Erin revealed how challenging it was to see their father on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alongside Yolanda. “Watching these shows is like watching trainwrecks you can’t look away from,” she told Andy Cohen. “But when your family’s part of it, it becomes less fun. You want to be able to laugh at it, but when it’s your own family, it’s hard.”
The Foster siblings have previously spoken out about the emotional complexities of growing up with David after he divorced their mother, Rebecca Dyer, in 1986. David later married Linda Thompson, then Yolanda in 2011, before eventually settling down with McPhee. In a 2019 episode of the Sibling Revelry podcast, Sara reflected on the strain she and Erin felt during David’s relationships with other families. “Our dad was raising other children, not us,” she revealed. “He was raising Brandon and Brody [Jenner], and that was difficult for me and Erin.”
Despite the complexities of blended family dynamics, Sara and Erin have managed to maintain connections with their stepsiblings, especially with Gigi, proving that while marriages may end, family bonds can persist.
