MAKKAH — Saudi Arabia has taken significant steps to ensure a safe and well-organized Umrah season during Ramadan by deploying more than 200 smart wall screens, Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday.
These advanced monitoring systems are being utilized to oversee security operations and facilitate the smooth flow of pilgrims performing Umrah throughout the holy month, according to the Saudi Gazette.
The Control Center in Makkah has strategically positioned these smart screens to enhance surveillance at key locations, including the city’s 11 main entrances and over eight security checkpoints. This initiative aims to streamline entry and exit procedures for the millions of worshippers arriving for Umrah, ensuring they can perform their rituals with ease and security.
Security operations during the Umrah season are meticulously divided among seven security sectors, each working in coordination to maintain order and respond to any emerging situations. These sectors rely on real-time data collected through the smart screens, allowing authorities to monitor crowd movement, enforce security protocols, and swiftly address any concerns that may arise.
In addition to entry and exit points, the smart screens play a crucial role in monitoring Makkah’s neighborhoods and districts. Live data transmission to the operations room at the Grand Mosque ensures that security personnel remain informed of any developments within the mosque premises. This continuous flow of information allows for proactive crowd management, enhancing the overall Umrah experience for pilgrims.
The state-of-the-art Control Center operates 24/7, utilizing its network of smart screens to maintain situational awareness across Makkah. It works in close coordination with the Security Operations Center at the Grand Mosque and the Unified Operations Center 911. This integrated approach ensures seamless communication between various security entities, enabling rapid responses when needed.
By leveraging cutting-edge technology and smart screens, Saudi Arabia is reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling environment for millions of Muslims performing Umrah during Ramadan. The enhanced monitoring system underscores the Kingdom’s dedication to maintaining security and order in one of Islam’s holiest cities.
