Cristiano Ronaldo touched down in Hong Kong on Thursday afternoon, leading Al Nassr’s arrival for the 2025 Saudi Super Cup.
The 40-year-old Portuguese legend, who has starred for Manchester United and Real Madrid in the past, was greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic fans who stood in the rain outside the Regent Hotel to catch a glimpse of their hero. Ronaldo, accompanied by high-profile teammates such as João Félix, who recently joined from Chelsea, and Senegalese forward Sadio Mané, appeared in high spirits as the team prepares for the tournament.
The Saudi Super Cup, scheduled from August 19 to 24 at the 40,000-seat Hong Kong Stadium, will feature four Saudi Pro League giants — Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, and Al Qadsiah. Al Nassr will face reigning league champions Al Ittihad in the first semifinal on August 19, while Al Ahli will meet Al Qadsiah the next day. The winners will clash in the final on August 23.
Ronaldo’s team arrived in Hong Kong directly after completing their pre-season campaign, which ended with a friendly against Spanish side Almería. Following a brief training session at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, the squad flew out under the leadership of new Portuguese head coach Jorge Jesus.
Bolstered by summer signings, including Félix and Spanish defender Iñigo Martínez, Al Nassr will rely heavily on Ronaldo’s experience and goal-scoring prowess to secure their first silverware of the season. With a refreshed squad and tactical overhaul, the club aims to make a bold statement in Hong Kong and build momentum for the upcoming Roshn Saudi League campaign.
