Karachi, February 26, 2026: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued instructions to commercial banks to assist taxpayers in the payment of government duties and taxes for February 2026. The circular, issued on Thursday, outlines special arrangements for both over-the-counter and digital payments to ensure smooth tax collection.
According to the SBP, in coordination with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), all commercial bank branches—including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs collections—will remain open on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM. This measure is aimed at facilitating taxpayers who need to make payments in person and to support special clearing for government transactions conducted through NIFT.
Banks have also been instructed to ensure uninterrupted access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to allow taxpayers to complete their duties and tax payments conveniently and efficiently.
The SBP emphasized that these steps are part of ongoing efforts to streamline tax collection procedures, reduce bottlenecks, and provide citizens and businesses with multiple convenient options for government payments.
Taxpayers are advised to take advantage of both over-the-counter and digital payment facilities to meet their obligations before the due date, ensuring compliance with federal tax regulations.
