Karachi, June 27, 2025 — The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released a comprehensive banking schedule aimed at facilitating the collection of government duties and taxes at the end of the fiscal year 2024–25.
Issued on Friday in coordination with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the SBP directive ensures the smooth execution of financial transactions by extending banking hours and optimizing clearing operations.
The SBP stated that in order to support taxpayers and enable timely collection of taxes, all commercial banks and the Customs collection branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will follow a special schedule on Saturday, June 28, and Monday, June 30, 2025.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the SBP has instructed designated bank branches to remain open from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. NIFT (National Institutional Facilitation Technologies) will collect instruments related solely to government receipts from bank counters at 3:00 PM, which will then be processed through a special clearing session on the same day. The clearing fate for these transactions will be communicated by 5:00 PM. Other instruments collected on June 28 will be cleared through the standard schedule on Monday, June 30.
On Monday, June 30, 2025, in a rare extension of hours, all commercial banks and SBP BSC (Banking Services Corporation) offices will operate from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. NIFT will collect government-related instruments at 12:00 AM for special clearing on July 1, ensuring the value date remains June 30. Similarly, Customs branches of NBP will operate until 11:59 PM, and NIFT will collect instruments from them at 1:00 AM on July 1 for the same value date.
To ensure real-time settlements, the SBP instructed that 1Link must facilitate the clearing of transactions conducted through Alternate Delivery Channels (ADCs). The ADC batch settlement time for June 28 is set at 8:00 PM, and for June 30, all transactions up to 11:59 PM will be settled by 2:00 AM on July 1.
The SBP emphasized that all designated NBP branches handling manual tax collections must reconcile their receipts with respective SBP-BSC offices in line with the official schedule. Additionally, SBP’s core banking system will recognize June 28 as a working day for settlement purposes.
In its directive, the SBP also mandated that all banks must guarantee 24/7 availability of online services, including internet banking, mobile apps, and ATMs, throughout the special schedule period to facilitate taxpayers. It warned that no instrument related to government receipts lodged during the announced hours should remain unprocessed.
This proactive move by the SBP to announce an extended schedule is part of its continued commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline and streamlining tax payment mechanisms. By ensuring both manual and digital channels are fully operational, the SBP’s schedule aims to eliminate end-of-year transactional bottlenecks and enhance public convenience.
