The 16-week initiative will connect Pakistani fintech professionals with international expertise to develop digital payment infrastructure and strengthen financial inclusion.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced a new collaboration framework for its Innovation Hub alongside the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Program, aiming to accelerate financial technology development and strengthen the country’s digital payments ecosystem.
The initiative was officially launched at a ceremony held at SBP’s Karachi headquarters on Tuesday. The event brought together central bank officials, representatives of the Mojaloop Foundation, banking institutions, financial service providers, technology companies, fintech firms and academic representatives.
Established under SBP Vision 2028, the central bank’s Innovation Hub provides a platform for collaboration with stakeholders across the financial technology sector. The newly introduced framework aims to promote knowledge sharing, technical capacity building and ecosystem development through partnerships that remain non-exclusive and technology-neutral.
The Mojaloop Country Accelerator Program for Pakistan marks the first initiative launched under this framework. It has been introduced in partnership with the Mojaloop Foundation, a non-profit organization responsible for maintaining open-source payment software designed to support interoperable digital financial systems.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, SBP Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah highlighted the importance of the initiative in advancing Pakistan’s financial technology capabilities. He said the program would connect local professionals and institutions with international expertise, helping transform innovative concepts into practical digital payment solutions.
He expressed optimism that the collaboration would encourage technological innovation, enhance domestic expertise and improve access to digital financial services across the country.
The Mojaloop Foundation will contribute to the program through technical training and curriculum development. Scheduled to run from November 2026 to February 2027, the 16-week accelerator will combine self-paced learning with sessions conducted by industry experts.
The program is primarily designed for local system implementers, digital financial service providers and payment-hub operators seeking expertise in modern digital payment infrastructure.
Participants will also gain access to the Mojaloop technical community, providing opportunities for continued professional development and exposure to international best practices.
The SBP said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to responsible innovation, strengthening digital financial infrastructure and expanding financial inclusion to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
