Karachi, March 9, 2026 – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday released the latest Karachi Interbank Offered Rates (KIBOR) to facilitate banking institutions, financial analysts, and corporate borrowers in assessing short-term lending benchmarks in Pakistan’s interbank market.
KIBOR represents the average interest rate at which banks are willing to lend unsecured funds to other banks. It serves as a key benchmark for pricing corporate loans, consumer financing, and other financial products across the country.
According to the SBP data, most tenors recorded a slight increase on March 9, 2026, compared with March 6, 2026, reflecting modest upward adjustments in short-term interbank lending costs.

Analysis of KIBOR Rates
A comparison of the two sessions indicates an upward movement in most short- and medium-term tenors, particularly in the 1-week, 2-week, 1-month, and 9-month segments. The 1-year bid rate increased to 10.90% from 10.74%, signaling slightly tighter liquidity conditions in the banking system.
However, the 1-year offer rate declined from 11.74% to 11.40%, suggesting improved lending sentiment or adjustments in interbank pricing dynamics.
Financial experts note that fluctuations in KIBOR often reflect liquidity levels, monetary policy expectations, and overall demand for funds within Pakistan’s banking sector. The benchmark remains closely watched by investors and borrowers as it directly influences lending rates for corporate and consumer financing.
