State Bank of Pakistan Report

Karachi, January 6, 2026 — The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday released the latest interbank foreign currency exchange rates to guide banking consumers, importers, exporters, and businesses involved in foreign transactions. These rates serve as a reference for commercial banks while conducting currency exchanges for clients.

According to the SBP, the interbank rates are compiled daily from exchange rate sheets provided by commercial banks. They are indicative rates meant to provide a transparent view of prevailing market conditions and are primarily for informational purposes. The SBP noted that actual rates offered by commercial banks may vary slightly depending on transaction volumes and market demand.

On January 6, 2026, the US Dollar (USD) interbank rate opened at Rs279.81 for buying and Rs280.23 for selling, reflecting stability in the domestic currency against the greenback. Major currencies such as the Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), Japanese Yen (JPY), UAE Dirham (AED), Saudi Riyal (SAR), Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Swiss Franc (CHF), and Chinese Yuan (CNY) also recorded minor fluctuations in the interbank market.

The SBP emphasized that these rates are indicative estimates collected from multiple commercial banks, representing the average buying and selling rates offered to customers for international trade and banking transactions. Businesses and individuals are advised to check the final rates with their respective banks before conducting foreign exchange transactions.
