Seasonal low pressure grips north Balochistan, says PMD

Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, August 11, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that a seasonal low pressure system continues to dominate north Balochistan, influencing weather patterns across several regions.

According to the PMD, weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are making their way into the upper parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is also impacting northern areas.

In its national forecast, the PMD warned that the seasonal low over north Balochistan could sustain hot and humid conditions in much of Pakistan over the next two days.

Monday Forecast: Predominantly hot and humid weather is likely in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

Tuesday Forecast: Conditions will remain mainly hot and very humid nationwide. Light rain accompanied by wind or thunder may occur at isolated spots in Pothohar, Islamabad, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and adjoining hills.

The PMD’s past 24-hour report noted hot and very humid weather across most of Pakistan, except for Gilgit-Baltistan, which saw localized thunderstorms. The highest rainfall recorded was 17mm in Babusar.

Extreme heat was reported from parts of Balochistan, with Dalbandin scorching at 45°C, followed by Nokundi at 44°C. Other high readings included Dadu and Chilas at 44°C. The PMD urged caution in Balochistan and other heat-affected areas.
