Islamabad, November 13, 2025 – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in data sharing, capacity building, and information exchange.
The agreement was formalized during DataFest 2025, held at the Pak-China Center in Islamabad, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Under the MoU, SECP and PBS will collaborate to establish a structured framework for the automated and secure exchange of verified information. The initiative aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, promote data transparency, and support research and statistical analysis across national institutions.
Both organizations will work to share relevant datasets through digital platforms and APIs, along with traditional communication methods, in full compliance with data protection laws. The partnership is also expected to improve the quality and timeliness of economic and business data available for decision-making.
Officials said the collaboration will allow PBS to access reliable business and corporate data, enhancing the accuracy of national accounts and other key statistical reports.
The MoU highlights the shared commitment of SECP and PBS to advance Pakistan’s digital transformation, foster transparency, and promote a modern, data-driven governance framework that supports sustainable economic development.
This partnership is expected to pave the way for future collaborations, supporting innovation, economic planning, and stronger governance through reliable data insights.
