Newlyweds Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco took a meaningful approach to their wedding celebration by asking guests to skip traditional gifts and instead contribute to a cause close to their hearts — the Rare Impact Fund, a mental health initiative founded by Gomez.

The 33-year-old singer and actress revealed that she wanted her big day to reflect her personal values and ongoing advocacy for mental health awareness. “We didn’t want the usual wedding gifts,” Gomez told People Magazine during the third annual Rare Impact celebration. “I just wanted to share a little piece of happy with my community. They’ve changed my life, so this was my way of giving back.”

Gomez, who launched the Rare Impact Fund five years ago as part of her beauty brand Rare Beauty, has already helped raise over $20 million to make mental health resources more accessible worldwide.

Her husband, 37-year-old music producer Benny Blanco, fully supported the idea, ensuring their ceremony not only celebrated love but also purpose. The fund’s mission—to normalize conversations around mental well-being—mirrors Gomez’s long-standing commitment to advocacy and community support.

Calling the project one she’s “most proud of,” Gomez said she feels honored to see it grow each year. “I’m just stoked to see how far it’s come,” she added with a smile.

During the couple’s star-studded wedding on September 27, Gomez also gave a special shout-out to Pinterest, one of Rare Beauty’s key sponsors, saying, “Hey, they helped me with my wedding!”
