Selena Gomez opened up about her long-lasting friendship with pop superstar Taylor Swift, sharing heartfelt memories of their 17-year bond during a recent appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by her husband Benny Blanco and his best friend David Andrew Bird, aka Lil Dicky.

“Do you guys ever sit there and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe this is what our life is now?’” Blanco asked, prompting Gomez to reflect, “It’s more so that, ‘Wow, we survived it!’”

From Heartbreaks to Engagements

Gomez recalled the journey of their friendship through “multiple heartbreaks and love stories and fun stories in life,” culminating in both women getting engaged around the same time. Gomez and Blanco got engaged in December 2024, while Swift became engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce in August 2025.

“You both ended up with good dudes,” Bird said, with Gomez agreeing, adding, “I’m very lucky…”

Songs That Celebrate Their Bond

Gomez also confirmed long-rumored connections between Swift’s music and their friendship. She revealed that Dorothea from Swift’s 2020 album evermore was about her. Another track, Family, written by Swift a decade ago, chronicled their dreams of becoming a movie star and performing in stadiums — both of which came true.

“Now, when I listen to that song, both of those things have happened for us, and that’s really sweet,” Gomez said, visibly emotional.

Their friendship continues to inspire fans, highlighting a rare bond in the world of entertainment where success, love, and personal milestones are celebrated together.
