Selena Gomez is looking back fondly on her time with Disney Channel, reflecting on her shared journey with fellow stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Zendaya during a recent appearance on the Therapuss podcast.
The Rare Beauty founder, who rose to fame as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012), opened up about how much the experience meant to her. “I was such a huge fan of the channel,” Gomez shared. “I was a huge fan of what they did for our generation, and it was an honor. I wear it proudly. I definitely am not ashamed of being part of the Disney high school experience.”
She also acknowledged her peers who were part of the Disney legacy. Miley Cyrus starred in Hannah Montana, Demi Lovato featured in Sonny with a Chance, Princess Protection Program, and Camp Rock, while Zendaya made her mark with Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover.
“It was all of us,” Selena added. “All from the Jonas Brothers, to Miley and Demi, and then it was Zendaya. It was just so cool to see all the people you so ‘went to school with,’ if you will. It’s good to see them all do their thing.”
Now thriving as a singer, actress, and entrepreneur, Gomez continues to embrace her Disney roots while branching out into new ventures.
