Serbia Surge to Basketball World Cup Final Victory

Serbia triumphed over Canada with a score of 95-86 in a thrilling World Cup semifinal showdown held in Manila, Philippines on September 8, even without their star player, Nikola Jokic.

Leading the charge for Serbia was Bogdan Bogdanovic, who delivered an impressive performance with 23 points, while Ognjen Dobric and Nikola Milutinov chipped in with 16 points each.

Serbia exhibited remarkable accuracy, with a remarkable 62 percent shot success rate, effectively shattering Canada’s dream of securing the gold medal.

This victory marks Serbia’s second appearance in the World Cup final within the last three tournaments. Their previous stint in the final in 2014 ended in disappointment when they lost to the United States.

Now, they eagerly await the winner of the highly anticipated matchup between the United States and Germany, set to take place in Manila on September 10 for the championship title.

Nikola Jokic’s decision to skip the tournament, following his triumphant lead of the Denver Nuggets to an NBA championship, allowed Serbia to regroup and propel themselves into the World Cup final.
