In a show-stopping moment that thrilled thousands of fans, Olivia Rodrigo and Ed Sheeran teamed up for a surprise duet during Rodrigo’s biggest UK concert to date at the British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park festival in London.
The deja vu hitmaker brought the crowd to its feet when she invited Sheeran on stage to perform a heartfelt rendition of his 2011 breakout hit The A Team. The unexpected collaboration quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media with excitement and demands for an official release of the duet.
One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Never knew I needed to hear Olivia Rodrigo singing The A Team with Ed Sheeran until now. I’m OBSESSED.”
Another added, “Olivia just brought out Ed Sheeran WTFF,” while a third pleaded, “I need Olivia Rodrigo and Ed Sheeran version of The A Team on Spotify right now.”
Sheeran later shared a reel of the performance on Instagram, praising Rodrigo’s artistry and both of her albums, Sour and Guts. “No skips for me, I’m a proper fan,” he wrote. He also reminisced about their first meeting at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, where they sat together with Rodrigo’s parents.
“I was gonna go watch the show anyway,” Sheeran explained, “but Olivia asked me to sing The A Team with her onstage.” Reflecting on the track’s legacy, he added, “That song turns 15 this year, and I remember playing it to empty rooms in 2010. To now be performing it with one of the brightest stars of the next generation is an honour.”
He ended the post with warm words for Rodrigo ahead of her next major gig: “Rock Glastonbury headline Sunday @oliviarodrigo. UK loves you x.”
