Karachi, March 5, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its comprehensive shipping activity report for Tuesday, March 5, 2024, detailing the bustling maritime operations to keep stakeholders informed.

Three prominent vessels—MSC Rida, Medi Chiba, and Al-Rayyan—graced Port Qasim, each carrying vital cargo such as containers, canola seeds, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). These ships berthed at the Container Terminal, Grain Terminal, and Elengy Terminal, respectively, on Monday. Additionally, another container ship, MSC Aby, arrived at the outer anchorage of the port on Tuesday morning.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of eight ships were actively engaged at PQA berths. Of these, one container vessel departed the port earlier in the morning. Four more ships—Star Sino, African Baza, Medi Chiba, and Kamome Victoria—are anticipated to set sail later in the afternoon.

The cargo volume handled during this period amounted to a substantial 145,757 tonnes. This included 127,624 tonnes of imported cargo and 18,133 tonnes of exported cargo. The diverse cargo mix included containerized cargo carried in 1,275 containers, consisting of 475 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of imports and 800 TEUs of exports.

Presently, there are 10 ships at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, four ships—MSC Aby, San Nicolas, Torm Integrity, and Cetus, along with Maersk Pittsburgh—are expected to secure berths at various terminals, including QICT, MW-4, FOTCO, and PIBT on Tuesday.
