Shipping Activity at Port Qasim on April 4, 2024

The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released a report detailing the shipping activity observed on Thursday, April 4, 2024, aimed at facilitating stakeholders and providing insight into the port’s operations.

On Wednesday, two ships, namely Chem Gallium and Alba Gas, arrived at Port Qasim, carrying chemicals and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) respectively. These vessels berthed at the Engro Terminal and Sui Southern Gas Terminal, contributing to the port’s cargo handling capabilities.

Additionally, the gas carrier ‘Lian Song Hu’ also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday morning, further enhancing the port’s shipping activity.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of eight ships were engaged at PQA berths. Among them, two ships, Kyparissia and Silver, left the port on Thursday morning, while two more ships, Al-Wajbah and Chem Gallium, are expected to sail later in the day.

In terms of cargo volume, the port handled a total of 113,525 tonnes, consisting of 66,256 tonnes of imports cargo and 47,269 tonnes of export cargo. This cargo was transported in 2,623 containers, including 503 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of imports and 2,120 TEUs of exports.

Presently, there are seven ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Four of these ships, namely Marina Arung, Lian Song Hu, Alba Gas, and Cosco America, along with another vessel, Xpress Salween, are expected to take berths at various terminals within the port. These ships will be engaged in handling cargo such as palm oil, gasoline, LPG, and containers.

Furthermore, another containership named ‘Addison’ is scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, contributing to the ongoing shipping activity at the port.

The shipping activity at Port Qasim underscores its significance as a vital maritime gateway for trade and commerce in Pakistan.
