Karachi, March 14, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Thursday, March 14, 2024, providing crucial insights to stakeholders and highlighting the bustling maritime operations at one of Pakistan’s key ports.

On Wednesday, three ships, namely LNGC Fuwairit, Khairpur, and Spar Octans, arrived at Port Qasim, carrying cargoes of LNG, Gasoline, and Coal. These vessels berthed at the PGPCL Terminal, FOCTO Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively, adding to the diverse range of goods handled by the port.

In addition, another ship, Trans Sprig, carrying Steel Coil, arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday, further contributing to the maritime traffic in the area.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of seven ships were engaged at PQA berths. Of these, three ships—Olympia, Maersk Cape Town, and Rhine—departed from the port earlier today, while two more ships, Eagle and Khairpur, are scheduled to set sail Thursday afternoon.

The port’s handling capacity remained robust, with a cargo volume of 168,741 tonnes managed within the last 24 hours. This comprised 132,836 tonnes of imports cargo and 35,905 tonnes of export cargo, carried in 3,039 containers (1,464 TEUs imports and 1,575 TEUs exports).

Furthermore, the maritime activity extended to the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, where five ships were positioned. Among these vessels, two ships—Grammy Brava and FSM—were awaiting berths, while five more ships—Athenian, MSC Rowan, CP Shenzhen, Silver Zoe, and Al Rayyan—were expected to take berths at various terminals including EVTL, MW-2, QICT, PIBT, FOTCO, and EETL on Thursday.

The diverse range of cargoes handled at Port Qasim reflects the port’s significance as a crucial hub for maritime trade in Pakistan.
