Port Qasim Activity

Karachi, October 28, 2024 — The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Monday, detailing a busy day of cargo handling and ship movements to facilitate stakeholders.

On Sunday, four vessels—Apollon-D, Captain Dimtris, EVA Green, and Zarrar Hanif—were berthed at different terminals within Port Qasim. These ships are scheduled to load or offload diverse cargo, including containers, cement, chemicals, and coal, at the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively.

In addition, three vessels—South Port, Sc Hong Kong, and Lowlands Amstel—arrived at the port’s outer anchorage within the past 24 hours. These ships are carrying furnace oil, chemicals, and coal, with loading and offloading set to commence shortly.

Throughout the last 24 hours, Port Qasim engaged eight ships across its berths. Of these, two ships, Saga and Port Fiscardo, departed from the port on Monday morning. Three additional ships—African Harrier, X-Press Salween, and Apollon-D—are expected to sail from the port on Monday afternoon, freeing up berthing space for incoming vessels.

Port Qasim reported a robust cargo volume over the past day, handling 91,400 tonnes in total. This included 73,275 tonnes of import cargo and 18,125 tonnes of export cargo. Container activity remained strong, with 2,155 containers processed, comprising 1,475 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of imports and 680 TEUs of exports.

The port’s outer anchorage currently holds twelve ships, with a lineup for berthing as space becomes available. Among these vessels, Doris, Sea Stellar, and South Port are scheduled to dock and handle rice, furnace oil, and containerized cargo at terminals MW-1, FAP, and FOTCO. Additionally, X-Press Salween and MSC Pamela are slated for berths at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) on Monday.

The busy port schedule is set to continue with three more container ships—MSC Positano, Navios Tempo, and MSC Glory-R—expected to arrive on Tuesday. These arrivals underline the high volume of cargo traffic and emphasize the strategic importance of Port Qasim in handling Pakistan’s import-export flow efficiently.

PQA’s regular activity reports help stakeholders stay informed and ensure the seamless management of logistics and shipping requirements, making Port Qasim a critical node in the region’s trade network.
