Karachi, October 29, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its daily shipping activity report for Tuesday, October 29, 2024, detailing a busy schedule at the port. This report aims to keep stakeholders informed of the ongoing maritime operations and cargo movements at one of Pakistan’s most active ports.
On Monday, four vessels, including X-Press Salween, MSC Pamela, Sea Stellar, and South Port, docked at Port Qasim to load and offload various types of cargo. X-Press Salween and MSC Pamela berthed at the Qasim International Container Terminal to handle containerized cargo, while Sea Stellar was stationed at the Grain Terminal for rice handling. Meanwhile, South Port docked at the FOTCO Oil Terminal to manage the offloading of furnace oil, catering to the energy needs of the region.
In the last 24 hours, four additional vessels arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, prepared to handle their respective cargoes. These include GFS Ruby, PH Giang Minh, Sea Quest, and Milaha Ras Laffan, which are set to load or offload containerized goods, rice, gas oil, and LNG. These ships’ arrival highlights the diverse cargo handled by the port, contributing to the local and national economy.
Over the past day, a total of eight ships were actively engaged at Port Qasim’s berths, indicating a high level of activity and efficient utilization of docking facilities. Out of these vessels, three—MSC Pamela, African Harrier, and EVA Bergen—are scheduled to depart on Tuesday, allowing space for more ships arriving in the coming days.
Port Qasim managed a substantial cargo volume of 148,973 tonnes within the last 24 hours. This included 78,148 tonnes of import cargo and 70,825 tonnes of export cargo, transported through 3,205 containers. Of these, 1,228 TEUs contained imports, while 1,977 TEUs comprised export goods, reflecting the port’s balanced handling of both incoming and outgoing goods.
Currently, 15 ships are anchored outside Port Qasim, awaiting berths for their respective cargo operations. Among them, three vessels—Doris, SC Hong Kong, and Milaha Ras Laffan—along with two additional ships, MSC Positano and Navios Tempo, are scheduled to dock on Tuesday to handle rice, chemicals, LNG, and containerized cargo at MW-1, EVTL, PGPCL, and QICT terminals.
Looking ahead, the arrival of three more container ships—X-Press Anglesey, Maersk Cabo Verde, and One Reinforcement—is expected on Wednesday, October 30, further contributing to the bustling activity at Port Qasim and reinforcing its position as a crucial hub for Pakistan’s trade and logistics.
