Shipping Activity Thrives at Port Qasim on April 1, 2024

Karachi, April 1, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Monday, April 1, 2024, offering valuable insights into the bustling maritime operations underway to facilitate stakeholders and ensure seamless trade flow.

Ships Berthed: Eight vessels graced the berths of Port Qasim, each laden with a diverse range of cargoes. The berthed ships and their respective terminals are as follows:

• Olympia (Container Terminal)

• Wide Alpha (Liquid Terminal)

• MSC Prelude-V (Engro Terminal)

• Yun Ding-19 (Sui Southern Gas Terminal)

• SC Taipei (Bulk Terminal)

• Al-Diab-II (Bulk Terminal)

• Goofy (Bulk Terminal)

Ships Engaged: A total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths during the preceding 24 hours. Notably, two ships, Olympia and Wide Alpha, set sail from the port in the morning, while two more ships, Kerala and Taxidiara, are slated to depart in the afternoon.

Cargo Handling Statistics: The port witnessed a robust cargo handling turnover, with a total volume of 103,018 tonnes processed within the last 24 hours. This comprised 58,482 tonnes of imports cargo and 44,536 tonnes of exports cargo. The cargo was primarily containerized, with 2,279 containers handled, including 703 TEUs of imports and 1,576 TEUs of exports.

Outer Anchorage Activity: At the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, seven ships are currently anchored, awaiting their turn for berthing. Among them, three ships—Supra Duke, Mala Kado, and Uog Sparta—are scheduled to load or offload rice, cement, mogas, and LNG. Another vessel, Al-Areesh, is expected to take berths at MW-1, MW-2, FOTCO, and PGPCL terminals on Monday.
