The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released a comprehensive report detailing the shipping movement at the port on Friday, March 15, 2024, aimed at providing valuable insights to stakeholders involved in maritime trade.

A total of eight ships, namely MSC Rowan, Athenian, Grammy Brave, Silver Zoe, FSM, Dravin, Al-Rayyan, and CP Shenzhen, carrying various cargoes including containers, general cargo, gas oil, LPG, LNG, and coal, berthed at different terminals of Port Qasim on Thursday. These terminals included the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Terminal, Engro Terminal, Southern Gas Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, highlighting the diverse range of goods being handled at the port.

In addition to the ships already berthed, three more vessels, Bharadwaj, MSC Spring-III, and Hafnia Shanghai, arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim within the last 24 hours. These ships are scheduled to load and offload river sand, containers, and gas oil, further contributing to the bustling maritime activities at the port.

A total of twelve ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, demonstrating the high level of operational efficiency and capacity utilization at the port. Among these, the Liquid Nitrogen Gas carrier ‘Fuwairit’ departed from the port earlier today, while four more ships, Athenian, MSC Rowan, Spar Octans, and FSM, are expected to set sail later this afternoon.

During the aforementioned period, the port handled a cargo volume of 99,022 tonnes, comprising entirely of import cargo. This underscores the crucial role played by Port Qasim in facilitating trade and meeting the import requirements of the country.

As of now, there are six ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, with one containership, ‘MSC Spring-III’, and two others, MYNY and Mandala, carrying containers and chemicals, expected to take berths at QICT and EVTL on Friday, March 15th. Additionally, three more container ships, Meratus Jayakarta, MSC Precision-V, and Xpress Salween, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Sunday, further adding to the vibrant maritime activities at the port.
