Port Qasim Activity

Karachi, December 4, 2024 – Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Wednesday, December 4, 2024, to keep stakeholders informed about ongoing operations at the port.

On Tuesday, four ships – Maersk Newark, Manticore, Brave Commander, and Chemroad Orchid – were berthed at various terminals of the port to load and offload a range of cargo. These ships docked at the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Grain Terminal, and FOTCO Terminal, respectively, for the handling of containers, rice, wheat, and chemicals.

In the past 24 hours, two additional vessels, Marathopolis and Venus, arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, expanding the number of ships at the port. A total of nine vessels were engaged at PQA berths during this period. The container ship Maersk Newark departed from the port in the morning, while three other vessels – DM Bea, Brave Commander, and Pacific ERA – are expected to depart later in the afternoon.

The port handled a total cargo volume of 115,522 tonnes during the last 24 hours, comprising 81,405 tonnes of imports and 34,117 tonnes of exports. This cargo was distributed across 2,716 containers, including 1,450 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of imports and 1,266 TEUs of exports. This significant cargo volume reflects the steady flow of goods through the port, which plays a vital role in Pakistan’s trade operations.

Currently, 12 ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among these, three ships – AU Taurus, Venus, and Marathopolis – along with three others – CMA CGM Nabucco, Cap Andreas, and Valence – are scheduled to take berths at the Liquid Cargo Terminal (LCT), SSGC, and QICT (Qasim International Container Terminal), respectively, on Wednesday. Furthermore, four more container ships – One Readiness, X-Press Mekong, Tirua, and MSC Positano – are expected to arrive at the port on Thursday, indicating continued shipping activity and cargo handling at Port Qasim.
