Karachi, December 24, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has outlined its shipping operations for Tuesday, December 24, 2024, ensuring smooth facilitation for stakeholders involved in trade and logistics.
Over the past 24 hours, seven vessels docked at various terminals within Port Qasim, including the MSC Nerissa-V, Wisco Adventure, Navigator Luna, Lusail, Yasa Emirhan, and Darya Jaya. These ships carried a diverse range of cargo, such as containers, palm oil, chemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and coal. The vessels were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Port Gas Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal-4, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, reflecting the port’s robust operational capacity.
In addition to these arrivals, the container ship MSC Candice anchored at the outer anchorage this morning, signifying continuous inbound activity. Currently, 11 ships are engaged at PQA berths, handling various operations. Among them, the container ship MSC Nerissa-V departed the port this morning, while two additional vessels, African Bari Bird and Navigator Luna, are scheduled to set sail later today.
The cargo volume handled at the port during the last 24 hours amounted to an impressive 142,129 tonnes. This included 67,722 tonnes of imported goods and 74,407 tonnes of exported cargo. The activity involved a total of 1,560 containers, comprising 20 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of imports and 1,540 TEUs of exports, underlining Port Qasim’s critical role in supporting Pakistan’s trade.
As of now, 19 ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Of these, two container ships, MSC Candice and Maersk Pittsburgh, are expected to berth at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) later today. Meanwhile, additional arrivals are anticipated, with container vessels Maersk Cabo Verde and GFS Genesis scheduled to reach the outer anchorage on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Port Qasim’s efficient handling of diverse cargo and its ability to manage high volumes of maritime traffic underscore its strategic importance in Pakistan’s trade infrastructure.
