Karachi, December 30, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping operations report for Monday, December 30, 2024, to provide updates and insights to stakeholders.
A total of six ships—Cussler, African Bari Bird, Arctic Tern, Rui Ning-9, Simaisma, and Jasco Changhou—were berthed at various terminals of Port Qasim on Monday. These vessels were scheduled to load or offload diverse cargo, including containers, cement, palm oil, gas oil, LNG, and coal. The ships were stationed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Port Gas Terminal, and Power Electric Port Terminal, respectively.
In addition, three more ships—Amabiko, Ivan-6, and Al-Khuwair—arrived at the outer anchorage of the port within the last 24 hours. This influx highlights the consistent activity and importance of Port Qasim as a critical hub for Pakistan’s maritime operations.
Currently, eleven ships are engaged at PQA berths. Among them, three vessels—Cussler, Arctic Tern, and Mp Mr Tanker-1—are expected to depart by Monday afternoon, signaling swift turnover and efficient operations.
During the last 24 hours, Port Qasim handled a significant cargo volume of 163,383 tonnes. This included 148,593 tonnes of imported goods and 14,790 tonnes of exported goods, carried in 2,470 containers (comprising 1,600 TEUs of imports and 870 TEUs of exports). Such activity underscores the port’s pivotal role in facilitating trade and commerce for Pakistan.
At present, 21 ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, four ships—ST. Nikolal, Aramon, DM Jade, and Al-Khuwair—are expected to take berths at Liquid Cargo Terminal (LCT), FOTCO Oil Terminal, EVTL, and EETL on Monday. Additionally, three container ships—Kotka, Maersk Chicago, and Tsingtao Express—are scheduled to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, further adding to the port’s bustling schedule.
Port Qasim’s operations continue to demonstrate its critical position in supporting Pakistan’s import and export activities, ensuring seamless maritime logistics and efficient cargo handling processes.
