Karachi, December 9, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released details of shipping operations for Monday, December 9, 2024, highlighting active port activity to facilitate stakeholders.
On Sunday, five ships, namely MSC Positano, Apollon-D, Searay, Hafnia Lene, and Apollo GR, arrived and berthed at key terminals. These vessels were carrying diverse cargo, including containers, palm oil, gasoline, and coal, and were accommodated at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively. Additionally, a ship named Diamond, scheduled to load and offload rice, anchored at the outer anchorage.
Over the last 24 hours, eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths. The container ship MSC Positano departed from the port this morning. Four more vessels—Apollon-D, Manticore, Ashiko Victoria, and Borno—are also scheduled to sail later today.
Port operations handled a total cargo volume of 119,730 tonnes in the past 24 hours. This included 75,945 tonnes of import cargo and 43,785 tonnes of export cargo. The containerized cargo accounted for 4,488 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), comprising 1,983 TEUs of imports and 2,505 TEUs of exports.
Currently, eleven ships are stationed at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Two of these ships, Diamond and DS Sofie Bulker, along with the container ship MSC Silvia, are scheduled to berth at the Fauji Akbar Portia Terminal (FAP), Multi-purpose Wharf-2 (MW-2), and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), respectively, later today. Another container vessel, Maersk Seletar, is expected to arrive at the port on Tuesday, December 10.
