Renowned Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has been appointed as the mentor for the Stallions team in the much-anticipated Champions One-Day Cup, scheduled to take place in Faisalabad from September 12 to 29.
Malik, a former captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team and a two-time ICC event winner, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Stallions.
His appointment as a mentor is part of a strategic move by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to provide seasoned guidance to teams participating in the tournament.
Shoaib Malik is one of the five champion mentors selected by the PCB for the Champions One-Day Cup. Alongside Malik, the PCB has also appointed other legendary figures in Pakistan cricket, including Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Waqar Younis, to mentor different teams.
Each of these mentors brings a unique set of skills and experience, aiming to elevate the level of competition and impart invaluable lessons to the participating cricketers.
The Champions One-Day Cup promises to be a cricketing extravaganza, featuring a star-studded lineup of 150 top cricketers from across Pakistan.
The tournament will follow a single-league format, ensuring that every match holds significance in determining the eventual champions.
Most of the matches are scheduled to begin at 3 PM, providing fans with an opportunity to witness some of the best cricketing talent in the country. However, the Lions vs. Panthers match on September 16 will start earlier at 9:30 AM, adding variety to the tournament’s schedule.
Shoaib Malik’s Stallions are set to face a series of challenging encounters in the tournament. Their first match is against the Lions on September 13, followed by matches against the Wolves, Dolphins, and Panthers.
With Malik’s extensive experience, including participation in multiple World Cups and Champions Trophy tournaments, the Stallions are expected to benefit greatly from his mentorship.
Malik has scored over 11,000 runs and taken 218 wickets in international cricket, making him one of the most accomplished cricketers in Pakistan’s history.
