People's Bus Service

The Sindh Transport Department has announced a significant expansion of the People’s Bus Service (PBS) in Karachi, Pakistan. This initiative aims to improve public transportation accessibility and connectivity for residents across the city, offering enhanced travel options through the introduction of new routes and extensions to existing services.

Network Enhancement Through New Routes

Route 13: Starting July 22nd, 2024, Route 13 will establish a direct connection between Hawke’s Bay and the Tower. This new route is designed to offer a convenient travel option for residents in these frequently traversed areas, facilitating smoother and quicker commutes.

Route EV4 (Electric): Launching on July 24th, Route EV4 will be the first electric bus route within the PBS network. This eco-friendly route will connect Bahria Town to Numaish Chowrangi, catering to residents and commuters seeking a sustainable travel choice. The introduction of electric buses marks a significant step towards reducing the city’s carbon footprint and promoting green transportation alternatives.

Route 8: Commencing operations on July 25th, Route 8 will directly link Yousuf Goth with the Tower. This addition addresses the transportation needs of residents residing in Yousuf Goth and surrounding areas, providing them with a reliable and efficient public transportation option.

Improved Service Coverage with Extended Route

Route 12 Extension: Effective July 23rd, Route 12 will see an expansion in its service area. The route will now originate from Memon Goth, extending its reach to a wider range of passengers before terminating at the Tower. This extension aims to cater to more residents, ensuring broader service coverage and greater convenience.

Government Prioritizes Public Transportation

Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister overseeing Transport, unveiled these developments, emphasizing the initiative’s alignment with the Sindh government’s ongoing commitment to significantly enhance Karachi’s public transportation infrastructure.

The primary objective is to provide Karachi residents with a network of affordable, convenient, and comfortable travel options.
