Murad Ali Shah says the Sindh budget prioritises public relief, cuts non-development spending, and allocates Rs109 billion for public-private partnership projects.
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that a total of 2,056 development schemes across the province will be completed during the next financial year, underscoring the government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure and welfare initiatives.
Addressing a post-budget press conference in Karachi on Thursday, the chief minister said the provincial budget for FY2026-27 has been designed with a strong focus on providing relief to the public while ensuring sustainable economic development.
He stressed that improving public services and completing ongoing projects remained among the government’s key priorities.
Murad Ali Shah said the completion of more than two thousand development schemes would help strengthen infrastructure, enhance public facilities and support economic activity throughout Sindh.
He noted that the provincial administration had adopted a balanced approach aimed at maintaining development momentum despite fiscal challenges.
The chief minister further revealed that Rs109 billion has been allocated for projects being undertaken under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
According to him, these initiatives are expected to attract private investment and facilitate the execution of major infrastructure and development projects in different sectors.
He said the provincial government has also taken measures to reduce non-development expenditures in order to create more fiscal space for productive spending.
The reduction in administrative and recurring expenses, he added, would enable the government to channel greater resources towards development programmes and public welfare projects.
Murad Ali Shah maintained that the Sindh government remains committed to promoting economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents through efficient resource management and targeted development initiatives.
He emphasised that the budget reflects the government’s intention to strike a balance between fiscal discipline and the need to provide relief and development opportunities for the people of Sindh.
