Karachi, July 31, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the possibility of monsoon rainfall in Sindh’s coastal belt, particularly on Friday, August 1, 2025. This follows an advisory indicating a shift in monsoon currents toward the southeastern region of the country.
According to the PMD’s latest update, Sindh will experience mainly hot and humid weather across most districts on Thursday. However, rain-thundershowers may occur at isolated locations, especially in Sukkur, Kashmor, Ghotki, and surrounding areas. Intermittent monsoon showers are also anticipated in Sindh’s coastal districts.
On Friday, weather in Sindh is expected to remain hot and humid during the day. However, the likelihood of monsoon-driven rain-thundershowers increases during the evening and nighttime, particularly in Tharparkar, Umerkot, and the coastal belt, including Karachi, Thatta, and Badin.
At the national level, the PMD has issued warnings for flash flooding caused by heavy monsoon downpours in local nullahs and streams across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Punjab, northern Balochistan, and Kashmir from Thursday night through August 1. Strong winds and lightning during this period may damage weak structures such as Kacha houses, electric poles, vehicles, billboards, and solar panels.
Synoptic Situation: A seasonal low pressure system persists over northeast Balochistan, while monsoon currents continue to penetrate the upper and central regions of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is influencing the upper parts of the country.
Over the past 24 hours, rain and thundershowers with isolated heavyfalls occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The hottest locations included Nokkundi (45°C), Dalbandin (44°C), and Panjgur (43°C). The PMD advises citizens in Sindh to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions as monsoon activity intensifies.
