Islamabad, July 27, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain for the coastal areas of Sindh on Sunday, July 28, 2024. According to the PMD, the weather in Sindh is expected to be predominantly hot and very humid, but partly cloudy conditions with isolated light rain or drizzle are anticipated in districts like Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Badin, and other coastal areas.
The PMD’s national weather forecast for Sunday, July 28, 2024, predicts rain, windstorms, and thundershowers in several regions including Kashmir, eastern Punjab, the Pothohar Region, Islamabad, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and southeast Sindh. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of northeast Punjab. In contrast, other parts of the country are expected to experience hot and very humid weather.
Regarding the synoptic situation, the PMD stated that strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to penetrate the upper parts of the country tonight and spread to central and southern regions by July 29. This will likely influence the weather patterns over the coming days.
For today, July 27, 2024, the PMD forecasts mainly hot and very humid weather across most parts of the country. However, rain, windstorms, and thundershowers are expected in Kashmir, eastern Punjab, the Pothohar Region, Islamabad, and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Isolated places in northeast Punjab may experience heavy rainfall.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and very humid weather prevailed over most parts of Pakistan. However, rain, wind, and thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the Pothohar Region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. Specific rainfall measurements include:
• Punjab: Gujranwala received 31 mm, Sialkot (AP) 20 mm, Gujrat 18 mm, Murree 16 mm, and Narowal 12 mm.
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Balakot received 5 mm.
• Kashmir: Garhidupatta received 4 mm and Rawalakot 2 mm.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded yesterday were:
• Dalbandin: 46°C
• Jacobabad and Chilas: 45°C
• Sibbi: 44°C
The PMD advises residents in the affected areas to stay updated with the latest weather information and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
