More than 1,000 teams from across Sindh are expected to compete in the provincial e-sports championship through October.
The Sindh government has announced the second Sindh E-Sports Championship, with the major gaming event scheduled to officially begin on August 24. The competition will bring together more than 1,000 teams from different parts of the province, providing young gamers with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr. During the meeting, officials briefed the minister on various departmental matters, while discussions also focused on the implementation and development of the Sindh Sports Policy.
According to the minister, the official inauguration ceremony of the second Sindh E-Sports Championship will take place on August 24 at Liaquat Library. Following the launch, matches will be conducted in multiple stages, with the championship expected to continue until the first week of October.
The competition will primarily feature online matches, allowing teams from across Sindh to participate. The large-scale participation is expected to make the event an important platform for emerging e-sports talent in the province.
A formal closing ceremony will be organised at the conclusion of the championship. A total prize pool of Rs30 million will be distributed among the winning teams, creating an additional incentive for participants to compete at the highest level.
The Sindh government has said that promoting sports and constructive activities among young people remains a key priority. Officials believe e-sports can provide an alternative platform for talented youth while helping them connect with the rapidly expanding global gaming industry.
Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr emphasised that the government wants young people in Sindh to channel their abilities into productive activities. He also highlighted the potential of e-sports to help talented gamers gain recognition beyond Pakistan.
The minister further said that the province has considerable youth talent and that the government intends to provide suitable platforms for them to showcase their abilities. The second Sindh E-Sports Championship is expected to strengthen opportunities for young gamers while promoting e-sports as an emerging competitive field.
