Sindh poised to present Rs3.45 trillion budget for 2025–26

Karachi, June 13, 2025 – The Sindh government is all set to present its much-anticipated budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 in the Sindh Assembly today, with a total proposed outlay of Rs3.45 trillion.

This marks a significant step forward in the province’s economic planning and development agenda.

According to official sources, the Sindh Cabinet has formally approved the proposed budget, which reflects a 13% increase over the previous year’s budget for fiscal year 2024–25. The enhanced allocation signals the government’s intent to accelerate development and social sector reforms.

A key highlight of the new Sindh budget is that nearly 29%—amounting to Rs1,018 billion—has been earmarked for development expenditures. The proposed Annual Development Program (ADP) includes Rs520 billion for the Provincial ADP and Rs55 billion for the District ADP. In addition, foreign assistance worth Rs366 billion is expected to supplement the province’s development initiatives, especially in infrastructure, public services, and economic uplift projects.

Sector-specific allocations under the new budget are as follows:

• Education: Rs38 billion

• Health: Rs21 billion

• Local Government: Rs78 billion

• Irrigation: Rs31 billion

• Home Department: Rs13 billion

These figures reflect the government’s strategy to focus on basic services and strengthen administrative systems across Sindh.

The pre-budget cabinet meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, was held earlier this week. It was attended by the Chief Secretary, provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, and senior bureaucrats. During the session, the cabinet thoroughly reviewed the budget proposals for the upcoming year.

Speaking on the occasion, Murad Ali Shah revealed that, on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, budget recommendations were solicited from all regions of Sindh to ensure a people-centric approach. “The Pakistan Peoples Party has always prioritized public welfare and national interest,” he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the 2025–26 Sindh budget aims to address the real needs of citizens and will also provide financial relief to government employees in light of inflationary pressures.
