Karachi, August 8, 2025 – All public and private schools across Sindh will observe a four-day closure next week.
The decision, issued through an official notification from the Sindh Education Department, aligns with both national and religious observances.
According to the notification, schools will be closed on Friday, August 15, to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). This religious occasion, which holds significant importance for many communities, will be observed throughout Sindh, prompting the one-day special holiday.
However, when combined with other scheduled holidays, the closure period will stretch from Thursday, August 14, to Sunday, August 17. Independence Day, celebrated nationwide on August 14, will serve as the first day of the break. Following the Chehlum holiday on August 15, schools will then remain closed on August 16 and 17 for the regular weekend.
The Sindh Education Department emphasized that the decision applies uniformly to all educational institutions under its jurisdiction, ensuring consistency across public and private sectors. This coordinated closure will give students, teachers, and staff an extended period to participate in both the national celebration and the religious observance, while also benefiting from a two-day weekend.
Parents have been advised to take note of the holiday schedule and plan accordingly, as Sindh schools will reopen on Monday, August 18, resuming regular academic activities.
