Karachi, February 25, 2025 – The Sindh Education Department has officially announced revised school timings for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
These changes will be implemented across all educational institutions, including primary, secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools in Sindh.
As per the new schedule, single-shift primary schools will begin their classes at 8:00 AM and conclude at 1:30 PM. However, on Fridays, the school day will be shorter, ending at 11:30 AM. In the case of double-shift primary schools, the first shift will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while the second shift will commence at 11:45 AM and end at 2:45 PM. On Fridays, the first shift will maintain its usual timing, whereas the second shift will conclude earlier at 1:30 PM.
Similarly, single-shift secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools will follow the same pattern, running from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with Friday classes concluding at 11:30 AM. For double-shift secondary and higher secondary schools, the first shift will start at 7:30 AM and end at 11:30 AM, followed by the second shift from 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM. On Fridays, the second shift will conclude at 1:15 PM instead of the regular timing.
In addition to school timings, the Sindh education authorities have also revised the examination schedule for matriculation and intermediate students. The matriculation theory exams, originally scheduled to begin on March 15, will now commence on April 7. Likewise, intermediate theory exams, which were to start on April 15, will now begin on April 28. Furthermore, the matric practical exams will start from March 10, while the schedule for intermediate practical exams will be announced later.
With Ramadan expected to begin on March 2, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the holy month will bring about changes in daily routines, including school schedules across Sindh. Ramadan holds immense religious significance, and Sindh, like the rest of the country, will witness an atmosphere of devotion, charity, and communal spirit. Public food distribution and charity initiatives will be widespread, as citizens establish stalls to provide free meals for those breaking their fast.
The revised school and exam schedules in Sindh ensure that students and teachers can balance academic commitments while observing the spiritual essence of Ramadan. These adjustments aim to facilitate both learning and religious observance, allowing students to maintain their educational progress during this sacred time.
