Hot and dry weather to persist across Sindh as Karachi stays partly cloudy

PMD forecasts hot, dry conditions across most of Sindh on Wednesday and Thursday, with partly cloudy weather expected in Karachi

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather across most districts of Sindh, while Karachi and adjoining areas are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions on Wednesday.

According to the PMD’s National Weather Forecasting Centre, issued on October 7, 2026, hot and dry weather will prevail over most parts of Sindh during the day. Partly cloudy weather is likely in Karachi and surrounding areas.

The weather is expected to remain hot and dry across most districts of Sindh on Thursday as well.

Dry weather across most of Pakistan

The PMD said continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.

On Wednesday, dry weather is expected across most areas, while isolated rain or thunderstorms are likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining areas.

The weather is forecast to remain dry across most parts of the country on Thursday.

During the previous 24 hours, rain, windstorms and thunderstorms were recorded at scattered locations in southern and upper Punjab, the Pothohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while isolated rainfall occurred in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The PMD also reported isolated hailstorms and heavy rain during the period.

In Punjab, Islamabad Airport recorded 35mm of rain, while Sialkot received 34mm. Vehova in Dera Ghazi Khan recorded 30mm, followed by Layyah with 11mm, Jhelum 8mm and Murree 7mm.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar received 32mm in the city and 10mm at the airport, while Dera Ismail Khan recorded 22mm at the airport and 9mm in the city. Bannu received 19mm.

Muzaffarabad recorded 3mm in Kashmir, while Bunji and Gilgit received 2mm and 1mm respectively in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Meanwhile, Turbat recorded the country’s highest maximum temperature at 44°C, followed by Sabi at 40°C, while Dadu, Rohri and Dalbandin recorded 39°C.

The PMD has advised residents to remain mindful of continued hot and dry conditions in Sindh, particularly during daytime hours.
