Karachi, April 3, 2025 – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revived oil and gas production from the Chak #2-2 Well, located in the Sinjhoro Block in Sanghar District, Sindh.
This milestone marks another step forward in OGDCL’s commitment to enhancing hydrocarbon production and energy security in Pakistan.
In a communication with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL confirmed the resumption of production from the Chak #2-2 Well. The Sinjhoro Block is a joint venture with OGDCL serving as the operator, holding a 62.5% working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) owns 22.5%, and Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) holds 15%. The well, situated in District Sanghar, Sindh, is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s hydrocarbon output.
Following a sidetrack and recompletion in the Basal Sand formation, production testing delivered promising results. The well is now yielding 115 barrels of oil per day (BPD) and 7.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Additionally, the operation is recovering 21 metric tons per day (MTon/D) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This resurgence in production is expected to bolster the country’s energy supply and reduce reliance on imports.
The well has been seamlessly integrated into the Sinjhoro Gas Processing Plant, ensuring efficient processing and delivery. The produced gas is now being injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, strengthening domestic gas availability. OGDCL’s enhanced production strategy aims to optimize reserves, maximize output, and ensure uninterrupted supply to industrial and domestic consumers.
The revival of production from the Sinjhoro Block aligns with OGDCL’s broader strategy to enhance exploration and production capabilities. By focusing on operational efficiency and technological advancements, OGDCL continues to solidify its position as Pakistan’s leading exploration and production (E&P) company. This achievement underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable energy development, ensuring long-term value for stakeholders and contributing to national energy security.
OGDCL remains committed to further exploration and production activities, leveraging innovative techniques to unlock additional reserves and enhance hydrocarbon production across Pakistan. The success of the Sinjhoro well revival reflects the company’s relentless pursuit of operational excellence and resource optimization.
