Karachi, January 5, 2026 — Several industries located in SITE Karachi have been without electricity for the past 15 days, severely disrupting industrial operations and causing significant financial losses, the SITE Association of Industry (SAI) informed K-Electric (KE) during a meeting on Monday.
The SAI organized the meeting after receiving numerous complaints from member industries regarding prolonged power outages. Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution, Marketing & Communication Officer of K-Electric, attended the session along with other senior KE officials to discuss the issue with affected industrial members.
SAI President Ahmed Azeem Alvi highlighted that many industries lack alternate power supply arrangements for extended periods, leading to operational and financial hardships. During the detailed discussion, members shared the challenges faced by their industries due to the prolonged outage.
KE officials clarified that the power disruption was not caused by technical faults but by ongoing legal action against large-scale power theft from two industrial feeders. The investigation revealed a complex network of illicit connections and equipment misuse, which has impacted the electricity supply for all connected industries.
KE assured the SAI that they are coordinating with law enforcement agencies to resolve the issue and remove illegal connections, enabling the resumption of industrial power supply. Ms. Sadia Dada requested the SAI and member industries’ cooperation and committed to restoring electricity to all affected industries by the end of January 5, 2026.
Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh urged K-Electric to compensate industries for losses incurred due to the outage by utilizing funds recovered from the electricity theft. Additionally, it was agreed to establish a dedicated Helpdesk at SAI to address future power-related grievances efficiently.
The meeting was attended by Muhammad Riaz Dhedhi (Vice President), Muhammad Kamran Arbi (Immediate Past President), Abdul Hadi (Former President), Saleem Nagaia (Former SVP), and representatives of the affected industries.
This development underscores the ongoing challenges in industrial power management in Karachi and highlights the need for efficient coordination between KE, law enforcement, and industrial stakeholders.
