Snoop Dogg’s position as a coach on The Voice has come under intense scrutiny after comments he made about Disney’s Lightyear ignited backlash.

The rapper, known for his larger-than-life persona, joined the popular singing competition to bring fresh energy, but his recent remarks have stirred debate about whether he still fits the family-oriented brand of the show.

During an appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, Snoop said he felt “scared to go to the movies” when his grandson asked how two female characters in the animated film could have a baby. Many interpreted the comment as homophobic, prompting swift concern from NBC executives.

According to industry insiders, emergency meetings were held to discuss potential responses, including disciplinary action. Network officials reportedly reminded Snoop that The Voice prides itself on inclusivity and positive representation, and that controversy of this nature runs counter to its values.

Crew members and contestants were also said to feel uneasy following the remarks, further fueling the debate about whether the rapper’s presence aligns with the show’s image. Snoop has since issued a statement, explaining that his words were taken out of context and insisting he never intended to offend anyone.

Even so, reports suggest doubts persist about his coaching style, with sources claiming he has struggled to form strong connections with contestants and deliver a winning team. Season 28, featuring Snoop, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé and Niall Horan, is slated to premiere on September 22.
