Sophie Turner has opened up about her complicated relationship with Game of Thrones, the HBO fantasy drama that turned her into a global star. The actress, who portrayed Sansa Stark for eight seasons, revealed that she has stepped away from watching the series due to the intense emotions it brings back.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Turner admitted that she no longer rewatches Game of Thrones and finds it emotionally overwhelming. She said that even hearing the iconic theme song triggers strong memories and makes her relive the experience in an unexpected way.

“I can’t watch it,” Sophie explained, adding that the show’s music gives her “PTSD” and completely changes how she views the series now. She recalled attempting to watch the first season with her parents years ago but said the experience was short-lived.

Despite her distance from the show today, Turner acknowledged the massive cultural impact Game of Thrones had on television and its global fanbase. The series remains one of the most influential TV shows of all time.

Looking ahead, the actress shifted focus to her future projects, teasing her upcoming role as Lara Croft in Amazon’s Tomb Raider series. She joked about undergoing months of intense physical training for the role.

Although she avoids revisiting Game of Thrones, Sophie Turner did not completely rule out the possibility of returning as Sansa Stark in the future.
