South African Women’s Cricket Squad Gears Up for Pakistan

Anticipation is building as South Africa reveals their dynamic squad of 15 players for the upcoming white-ball tour in Pakistan, commencing on September 1. The stage is set for an exciting journey of fierce competition and camaraderie as this talented team readies to shine on the cricket field.

The vibrant city of Karachi, renowned for its passionate cricket fans, will be the backdrop for this captivating clash. Get ready for a series of intense matches, as the action-packed cricket spectacle kicks off with T20Is from September 1 to 5, followed by the thrilling ODIs scheduled from September 8 to 14.

After an electrifying run in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, where they captivated fans en route to the final on home turf under the interim leadership of Sune Luus, the Proteas are now geared up for fresh challenges.

As Luus steps down from her captaincy role, the nation eagerly awaits the announcement of the new skipper, who will lead the team with authority and inspiration.

The squad boasts a familiar lineup, with 12 of the 15 players who played pivotal roles in the unforgettable T20 World Cup campaign retained. However, the absence of Chloe Tryon, who is taking a well-deserved break, and the sidelined Annerie Dercksen, who is recovering from a finger injury, underscore the hurdles that lie ahead.

Embracing a spirit of renewal, the team introduces some promising talents. Mieke de Ridder, a talented wicketkeeper, has earned a coveted spot in the squad and is on the cusp of her international debut. The return of all-rounder Nondumiso Shangase, who left her mark in national colors in 2021, adds a touch of nostalgia to the mix.

The Squad:

Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Mieke de Ridder, Lara Goodall, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nondumiso Shangase, Delmi Tucker and Laura Wolvaardt.

As the countdown begins, all eyes are on this remarkable South African women’s cricket squad as they prepare to make their mark on the international stage once again.
