New details and rumors about Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, have surfaced, sparking excitement among Marvel fans.
The film, a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony, is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
Will Tom Holland Appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
Marvel recently revealed the full cast of Avengers: Doomsday on March 26, 2025, but Holland’s Peter Parker was noticeably absent. While Marvel has hinted at unannounced surprise cameos, a new report from Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider suggests that Holland won’t be one of them.
According to Sneider, Holland’s absence is not due to his commitment to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, but rather because Spider-Man 4’s events might take place at the same time as Doomsday.
Who Will Be the Villain in ‘Spider-Man 4’?
While the official plot remains under wraps, Sneider reported that the film’s villain could be Chameleon, though the character may not go by that name.
“The latest rumor has Chameleon as the villain,” Sneider wrote, adding that since the character recently appeared in Kraven the Hunter (2024), Marvel might tweak certain aspects of his portrayal.
Chameleon, played by Fred Hechinger, was introduced in Kraven the Hunter, but the film barely explored his full potential. Given Kraven’s poor box office performance ($62 million globally), Marvel could reintroduce the character in a more significant role within the MCU’s Spider-Man universe.
Spider-Man 4’s Place in the MCU Timeline
If Spider-Man 4 does indeed unfold during the events of Avengers: Doomsday, it could mean that Peter Parker is facing his own battles in New York while the Avengers take on larger threats.
With the July 2026 release date confirmed, fans can expect more updates in the coming months. Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday is set for May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
